More about E-Sign from CCH

E-Sign eliminates printing returns on paper and manual transmittal of the signed 8879 Form back to us, and at the same time provides more security for your tax return data.  We expect that e-Sign will not only save you time, but result in a secure and timely delivery of the signed 8879 form.

To ensure security of your tax return information, you will be required to perform a Knowledge Based Authentication (KBA) before you can access the return and electronically sign Form 8879.  KBA is a tool commonly used in banks and financial institutions to verify the identities of customers as a means of fraud prevention and compliance adherence. Using this tool ensures the security of your confidential information.

During a KBA you will need to provide responses to security questions. Typically the knowledge needed to answer these questions is not held in a wallet (also referred to as "out-of-wallet questions"), making it difficult for another person to know the answer and obtain access to secured information
